The Minimal Tokyo 1st Year Anniversary Party presents live by Penny and Ashtray (SAASFEE*) and Katsuya Urushizaki (Audio.NL, Mindtours, Multivitamins).

Penny and Ashtray from Osaka blend underground dance music and Japanese pocket-game culture in an eclectic mix of hard techno beats, beeps and bleeps sampled from Nintendo Gameboy and high-voltage-electro-robotic craziness. The result is unique, ironic, light and very dancable compositions that were instantly picked up by some of the top DJs in the US and Europe, such as London-based duo Skull Juice. In 2006 Penny and Ashtray signed with Frankfurt-based record label SAASFEE* and released their first 12-inch “Floppy Disko”. Thier full album “Secret of Galaxy Z” is to be released on SAASFEE* in 2007.

大阪を拠点に活動する Penny and Ashtray はアンダーグランドなダンスミュージックと日本のポケットゲームカルチャーの両方を融合した、ハードなテクノビートとゲームボーイの電子音のサンプリングにハイボルテージでエレクトロロボティックなクレイジーさをミックスした音を作り出している。結果的に彼ら独自のアイロニックで軽くてとても踊りやすいサウンドに仕上がっており、ロンドンのSkull JuiceのようなヨーロッパやアメリカのトップＤＪたちからもすぐに声がかかるようになった。2006年にはフランクフルトのレーベル SAASFEE* と契約し、ファースト12inch “Floppy Disko”をリリース。彼らのフルアルバム“Secret of Galaxy Z”も2007年SAASFEE*からリリース予定。

Katsuya Urushizaki is back to Tokyo after nearly 6 years in London where he produced a number of highly acclaimed releases on such labels as Audio.NL from Rotterdam, London-based Multivitamins and Mindtours. His music has a distinct UK minimal taste with dynamic, rhythmic sequences, a pleasantly dubby bass line and pulsing grooves. His tracks have been played by such such minimal luminaries as Jeff Millingan, Margaret Dygas and Ricardo Villalobos.

Katsuya Urushizaki は6年近くのロンドン滞在で、たくさんの素晴らしいトラックをロッテルダムの Audio.NL (Holland) 、ロンドン拠点の Multivitamins (UK)、 Mindtours (UK) といったレーベルからリリースし、その後日本に帰国した。彼の音楽はUK独特のミニマルなテイストとダイナミックさ、リズミカルなシーケンス、そして心地よいダビーなベースラインとグルーブを合わせ持つ。Jeff Millingan、 Margaret Dygas、Ricardo Villalobosといったミニマルテクノの大御所も彼のトラックをプレイしている。
